Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has no intention of signing with the New York Yankees.

“I will never play for the Yankees,” Guerrero said in an interview with local media outlets such as “The Athletic” ahead of an away game against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York on the 22nd (Korean time), saying, “It will never change.” He reaffirmed that he would not.

Earlier, in an interview with radio host ‘El Dottol Nastra’ in November of last year, he said, “I like playing in New York. Because I like to catch the Yankees. I will never sign with the Yankees. I will not do it even if I die.”

When asked about the meaning of these words, he said, “It is a personal matter. It has to do with family. The decision I made,” he said.

He didn’t say exactly what that ‘family thing’ was.

‘The Athletic’ introduced that it was likely related to his father, Vladimir Guerrero. When Guerrero came to the free agency market in 2003, the Yankees turned their backs on him and signed Gary Sheffield.

Guerrero Jr. said he would ‘never sign’ with the Yankees, but Guerrero is a player the Yankees are likely to target.

It’s just right for the timing. 먹튀검증 The Yankees’ current starting first baseman, Anthony Rizzo, is contracted through 2024 and could be with the Yankees through 2025 with a team option.

Guerrero Jr. will be eligible for free agency after the 2025 season if he does not extend his contract with Toronto.

There’s no law against the Yankees naming Guerrero as their starting first baseman to succeed Rizzo. It remains to be seen whether Guerrero can keep his insistence that he will not sign a contract even if he dies.
